Description

Spend half your day in Krabi hopping between three of the province's most photographed islands by traditional longtail boat: snorkeling at Chicken Island, walking the low-tide sandbar at Thale Waek, and stretching out on Koh Poda's white sand, all in a single morning or afternoon.

Start with a pickup from your Ao Nang-area hotel. After a short drive, you're pushing off from Nopparat Thara Pier aboard a traditional longtail boat.

First, visit Chicken Island (Koh Kai), named for the limestone outcrop at its tip that resembles a chicken's head and neck. Pull on your mask and slip into the water: the reef here holds schools of tropical fish and colorful coral, making it one of the most reliable snorkeling spots on this route. Back on board, your guide positions the boat so you can get your photo with the famous rock formation behind you.

Next, take a short break with fresh seasonal Thai fruit, local snacks, and drinking water before the ride to Thale Waek, the 'divided sea.' At low tide, a ribbon of sand rises out of the water between the islands, and you can walk across the sea floor with clear turquoise water on both sides of your feet. It's the moment everyone remembers, and photographs.

Your final stop is Koh Poda, where a long, curving stretch of powdery white sand faces the open Andaman Sea. Swim, sunbathe, or just sit in the sea breeze until the boat turns for home.

Choose the departure that suits your day: a morning tour with hotel pickup between 7:15 and 7:45 AM, returning by 12:00 PM, or an afternoon tour running from 1:30 to 6:00 PM. Morning guests push off as the early light hits the limestone cliffs and the beaches are at their quietest; afternoon guests trade the early start for softer late-day light over the Andaman Sea.
