Description

Spend an afternoon and evening in Khao Sok National Park, one of Thailand's oldest rainforests. You'll float down the Sok River on a bamboo raft, walk through the jungle, and look for wildlife as night falls, then finish with a Thai dinner. The national park entrance fee is included.

You'll be picked up from your hotel in Khao Lak at around 12:00. Have an early lunch first, because the afternoon is busy. You'll be back at your hotel at around 20:00.

The drive into Khao Sok takes you past limestone mountains and thick forest. At the river, local guides steer you downstream on a traditional bamboo raft. Watch the banks and treetops for birds and monkeys. Halfway along, you'll stop on the riverbank for freshly brewed coffee served in bamboo cups, brewed in bamboo.

Next, a guide leads you on foot through the rainforest, with a short stop at the Monkey Temple, a quiet Buddhist temple in the forest.

As the light fades, the jungle changes. Switch on your flashlight and walk with your guide to look for animals that come out after dark, such as snakes, frogs and insects. These are wild animals, so sightings vary from night to night.

End the evening with a Thai set dinner surrounded by the forest.
