Reviews
An incredible stay from start to finish. The penthouse style room was beautiful, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with breathtaking views. The open-plan design created a relaxing atmosphere, and the pool was the perfect size with a fantastic design. The location right on the beach, the delicious breakfast, the excellent restaurant, and the outstanding service made this a truly memorable experience. It is my second time here and i would definitely stay here again.
Toon at reception was excellent and very helpful. K Koot in sales helped us out. Rooms were large and very clean with toiletries and English channels & Netflix on TV. Food was great including room service.
Let’s start with our stay. We booked our pool villa through Airbnb. Unfortunately, the location listed there was incorrect, which isn’t Beach Republic’s fault. The villa itself is nice, but it’s quite dated, and cleanliness didn’t seem to be a top priority. The overall property is also a bit worn, which matches what other reviews have said. Despite that, we were generally satisfied because the staff was incredibly friendly and always available. The beach and location were perfect for us, as we wanted a quieter spot, so the sea and beach weren’t crowded. All the main attractions can be reached within 20 minutes by Grab. One downside: on the first day, we reported a water leak in the kitchen. We were told a technician would follow up, but we never received any further communication or resolution. On the plus side, as others have noted, we didn’t encounter any cockroaches or pests. When you’re on the beach beds, all the negatives fade away. The food we ordered there was also the best we had on Koh Samui. That said, it’s quite pricey compared to typical prices in Thailand. The security guard was unfortunately stationed right outside our door, which had gaps around it where someone could theoretically peek in. That said, he personally did nothing wrong and was almost always present, friendly, and courteous, checking in on us and asking how we were doing. Right outside our door (see photos), there were electrical wires that were very noisy all the time and occasionally sparked. Unfortunately, the value for money didn’t fully match our expectations, so we probably wouldn’t book at this price again. After renovations or a price reduction, we would consider staying again.
Average at absolute best. We ordered some room service which was frozen microwave food - mostly inedible and very expensive. The restaurant menu was the same so we didn’t risk trying dinner. In general the rooms were nice, but nothing special. As ever for hotels the shower leaks all over the bathroom floor. How hotels don’t run a line of silicone to seal a shower screen is beyond me. When you walk from your room to the breakfast and pool area you’ll think you’ve taken a wrong turn. No signage and the path leading to it says car park with cones. Walk through that mess and you’ll actually reach an aesthetically pleasing area. Breakfast was average, for the price of the hotel I’d expect a decent coffee but it’s all instant. Tried to get another key card from reception and was treated as if I was an imposter, then charged 1,000 baht deposit for another card which is a new one on me. The pool side ran out of towel even through it didn’t seem that busy, we waited a good few hours for fresh ones. The rooms are cleaned every other day too. In summary - it’s OK, I certainly wouldn’t return and I think there are plenty of better places for the price.
