Bophut Beach is a white soft sand beach, not quite as soft as Chaweng but it's still a lovely beach. The sea here is the usual Samui turquoise blue, calm and good for swimming.
The eastern end of the beach incorporates the famous Fisherman's Village. A charming, little street with old and new buildings intertwined along the beach. Here you'll find plenty of restaurants with views to Koh Panghan and prices to match. The beach here is not so nice, but it's not really somewhere you would sun bake or lounge on the beach anyway. The focus here is on bars and restaurants above the beach.
The western end beyond Fisherman's Village is clean and well kept. Accommodation here is mid-range to higher end, there's little in the way of budget accommodation.
Most of the beach is taken up with resorts, you won't find too many independent bars or restuarants, but some great hotel offerings the full length of the beach.
For the active beach goers you'll find plenty of the usual offerings of jet skis, kayaking and the like.
