Multi-day Excursions in Koh Samui

If you've got some extra days on Koh Samui, try taking things slow with a multi-day excursion. One of my favorite ways to spend a few nights is island hopping to Ang Thong Marine Park. It’s not just about tick-the-box sightseeing; you camp on pristine beaches, snorkel through hidden lagoons, and wake up to the sound of bird calls that feel miles from anything touristy.

And here’s a tip: It’s best to avoid the midday boat rush and instead start early or choose a smaller tour operator. I’ve found that the smaller groups mean you get to explore spots where the bigger boats can’t reach, plus it’s way more chill.

Beyond the water, you can head inland for a jungle trek with a local guide near Mae Nam or go deep into the island’s coconut plantations and waterfalls. Spending nights in local villages can be a real eye-opener, with simple food and stories that don’t make it into the guidebooks. It’s where you’ll experience slices of real life on Koh Samui that tourists usually miss.

Travel slow, mix up beach days with backcountry adventures, and don’t hesitate to ask your guide for off-the-map detours. Some of my best memories are from the spontaneous stops that weren’t on the official itinerary.
